“Breaking down preconceptions” National Bank encourages diversity
Montreal, 8 June 2006 -
National Bank will be holding its 3rd annual Diversity Week from June 12 to 16, 2006 under the theme “Breaking down preconceptions.” The purpose of this event is to increase employee awareness of the advantages of diversity and reduce prejudice in the workplace.
“At National Bank, employment equity and diversity are important strategic assets. The innovative programs launched each year make a real impact and contribute to the quality of customer services and the organizational environment,” explained Gisèle Desrochers, Senior Vice-President – Human Resources and Operations, and member of the Executive Committee of National Bank.
A wide range of activities has been organized throughout the Bank’s branch network across Canada. Diversity Week will kick off with a scuba diving activity at Parc Jean Drapeau on June 12 where Défi sportif athletes with a variety of physical and sensory disabilities and several members of senior management will take the plunge. Seminars will take place during the week to increase employee awareness of diversity and, in particular, intergenerational and intercultural relations in the workplace. An outdoor lunch-hour activity at the National Bank Tower is also planned for June 14, where $1 per meal will be donated to the Women’s Centre of Montreal.
Diversity Week showcases the Bank’s commitment to creating a work environment that is suitable for everyone, regardless of the group to which they belong.
