PGA champion David Toms headlines the 10th annual Altamira Charity Challenge

Canada's largest one-day golf fundraiser scores a hole-in-one for kids

TORONTO – Golfing sensation David Toms will be leading a board full of PGA tour professionals, sports personalities and celebrity golfers ready to drive for dough at the 2004 Altamira Charity Challenge in support of Canadian children's charities. The tournament, celebrating its 10th anniversary, takes place on Monday, June 21st at the Toronto Board of Trade Country Club in Woodbridge, Ontario.

Toms has nine victories on the PGA Tour including the Wachovia Championship and the Fed-Ex St. Jude Classic in 2003, and was the winner of a Major at the 2001 PGA Championship. A champion on and off the course, Toms has helped thousands of children through his charitable organization, the David Toms Foundation. He looks forward to teeing off against a cast of entertaining personalities to raise money for Canadian children's charities.

The Altamira Charity Challenge is Canada's largest single-day golf fundraising event. To date the event has raised almost $4.5 million dollars in support of children's charities across Canada. The gates open on June 21st at 9 a.m. with fun-filled pre-event festivities including the celebrity practice shots on the driving range prior to the 11 a.m. shotgun start.
