You need a computer that can connect to the Internet, with enough memory to use a higher-level browser (see below). For forms available in portable document format (pdf), you will need a version of Adobe Reader (minimum version 6.0) that can use JavaScript, as the forms are enabled for onscreen data entry. Browser Encryption & Security

Browser Encryption

In order to ensure complete security for AAO site visitors, Altamira has taken the following steps:

  • Use of 128-bit encryption technology, which is the most powerful available in North America today.
  • Need for a password of at least 10 characters in length to access account information.
  • Need for a trading password of at least 4 characters in length, which must be used to trade in your account.

You have complete control over your passwords and can change them anytime.

The altamira.com site contains information of general interest and as such does not require this level (128-bit) of browser encryption.

Security

Our secure server checks for encryption levels when you sign in to  AltaAccess Online.  If you do not have 128-bit encryption, you will be provided with the opportunity to download the version that matches your browser.  If you choose not to do so however, you will not be able to use AltaAccess Online.

* Note: If you are using IE5 with Mac OS, your browser may inaccurately report a security issue with AltaAccess Online.  This is due to the use of multiple frames, and while it will not prevent you from conducting a secure transaction, we do recommend using Netscape with Mac OS for this reason
